Golden Hour Garden Engagement Session from Tiny Mum Photography

With the sun peeking through the trees at Discovery Green and the sweetest couple so completely in love, this golden hour garden engagement session truly makes us smile! Tiny Mum Photography captured Jhoana and Donald as they casually strolled through the park, hand-in-hand, resulting in intimate, emotional images that capture the tenderness of their relationship so beautifully. This sweet couple met on Tinder, in fact, and made things official on a deserted stretch of beach in Hawaii. Be sure to read the precious proposal story below, as told by the groom! Cheers to a special couple finding their perfect love!

The proposal story, from the groom’s perspective: “We started off the night with dinner on the beach at a restaurant just down the road from our hotel.  Before we left, I placed the ring in my backpack, as well as my camera.  I rarely carried my backpack or took pictures, but she didn’t seem too suspicious at the time, so I counted that as a win.  It was our third night in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, and we were doing our best to find the most scenic restaurant views. The two of us enjoyed a relaxing dinner accompanied by some island music and tropical drinks. After dinner, I suggested that we take a walk down the road to the beach.  I rehearsed what I was going to say over and over in my head as we traveled down the street.  We reached the beach just as the sun finished setting, leaving us with just the moonlight to illuminate each other. I led her to find the perfect stretch of beach. After turning down a couple of spots that did not seem picturesque enough for the moment I envisioned, we arrived at a private, wide open stretch of beach. For a brief moment, we stood together in silence looking out over the ocean and listening to the waves crash against the rocks.  I walked away from the water and sat on a beach chair to get the ring out of my backpack. She continued to watch the waves. My hands were shaky and fumbling as I searched through my bag in the dark. She looked back to see what I was doing, and I acted innocent as if I was just resting for a second. Once I had the ring box in my hand, I placed it in my pocket and walked back to join my soon-to-be fiancé.

“I put my arm around her and told her that I loved her. My heart began to pound as the moment approached. We had recently been discussing some of the firsts she had experienced on this trip, such as new foods, so I took a deep breath and told her that I had one more first for her. Next, I got down on one knee and pulled out the ring box. Of course, my mind went blank in the midst of the adrenaline rush, and I couldn’t remember any of the speech I rehearsed. My voice shaking, I managed to tell her how important she was to me, how much I loved her, and how I wished to spend the rest of my life with her. After I asked her to marry me, she wrapped her arms around and me and began crying tears of joy. Instead of saying yes as I anticipated, she repeated, ‘Are you sure, are you sure?’ After reassuring her that there was no doubt in my mind, she jokingly told me that she hated me, in between sobs.  She was not fond of surprises, and this was the biggest surprise of all. Once the emotions had settled down, I gently reminded her that she had not actually answered my question or looked at the ring. We both laughed. She told me that she would of course marry me, and then I placed the ring on her finger. It wasn’t exactly a proposal fit for a movie script, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. We hugged and kissed and again watched the waves in silence. After taking in the moment on the beach, we walked back to the hotel, hand in hand, to drink champagne and call our loved ones, capping off a night neither of us would ever forget.”
